The Northern Indiana Workforce Board, Inc. (NIWB) is one of several regional boards in Indiana that brings together business, or- ganized labor, education, economic develop- ment, government, and community-based organizations to provide quality leadership for developing a skilled workforce in northern Indiana. NIWB addresses workforce issues for Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, and St. Joseph counties.

In addition to the WorkOne centers in northern Indiana, the board also supports programs, workshops, seminars, and research on regional workforce issues.

Launched in the summer of 2008, IndianaCareerConnect.com is much more than a place for people to find good jobs and employers to locate qualified workers. The web portal also provides fast, efficient access for individuals to explore careers and research the job market. In addition, ICC offers employers a straightforward avenue to research candidate trends as well as gather general labor market information.

One of NIWB’s most exciting efforts has emerged from Indiana’s Strategic Skills Initiative.  SSI has been a regional economic worker training strategy that includes identifying occupational skills shortages, their root causes, and the solutions that will promote job growth and strengthen northern Indiana’s workforce.  For more information, go to the northern Indiana SSI.
