Career & College Expo — South Bend, Indiana

Young people should attend a Career & College Expo because it gives them the opportunity to explore their future, discover career possibilities, and make informed decisions about life after high school.

8 Reasons Young People Should Attend

1. Explore career possibilities

Discover careers they may never have considered and learn what different jobs are really like.

2. Discover college and training options

Meet representatives from colleges, trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and certificate-training providers.

3. Connect with employers

Learn about local job opportunities, what employers look for, and the skills needed to succeed.

4. Discover their interests and strengths

Start connecting personal interests, talents, and goals with potential career paths.

5. Learn about education costs and financial assistance

Ask questions about tuition, scholarships, grants, and possible funding for eligible training programs.

6. Build confidence and communication skills

Practice introducing themselves, asking professional questions, and making a positive first impression.

7. Build a network of contacts

Make connections with people who can provide guidance, resources, and future opportunities.

8. Make a plan for the future

Leave with new ideas, useful contacts, and a clearer understanding of the next steps toward a career.

The message for young people

A college degree isn't the only path to a successful future. Whether you're interested in college, skilled trades, apprenticeships, certifications, military service, or entering the workforce, a Career & College Expo can help you discover your options.

You don't have to know what you want to do yet. You just have to be willing to explore what's possible!
