FEDERAL RESOURCES
for HR Information
The U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) web site offers a section devoted to the President’s High Growth Job Training Initiative. The initiative seeks to prepare workers to take advantage of new and increasing job opportunities in high-growth, high-demand, and economically vital sectors of the American economy, such as health care, information technology, and advanced manufacturing.

In January 2008, federal lawmakers amended the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to extend safeguards to families of men and women serving in the U.S. armed forces. The law provides that an employer must provide a spouse (or other family member) with up to 26 weeks of leave from the workplace to care for their injured service member.

In addition, DOL offers a revised edition of the federal Employment Law Guide. The guide, aimed at non-lawyers, uses plain languge to describe major employ- ment laws and regulations enforced by the Labor Department. Additional compliance information is available from DOL's site.
