The panelists collectively hold a wealth of experience from delving into local, state, national, and inter- national market forces; moreover, they are seasoned public speakers who relish an opportunity to discuss practical information on economic forces impacting business officials, local governments, workers, job seekers, Northern Indiana residents, students and others.

2010 BUSINESS OUTLOOK PANEL
NAME and AREA OF EXPERTISEINDIANA UNIVERSITY POSITION and PROFILE
ROBERT H. DUCOFFE — MODERATORDean and Professor of Marketing, School of Business and Economics, Indiana University South Bend. Dr. Ducoffe joined the IUSB faculty in July 2005; prior to that he served as associate dean and professor of marketing at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, at the City University of New York.
GRANT C. BLACK — PANELIST ON THE NORTHERN INDIANA REGIONAL ECONOMYAssistant Professor of Economics, School of Business and Economics, Indiana University South Bend. Dr. Black serves as director of IUSB's Bureau of Business and Economic Research and the Center for Economic Education. Prior to joining IU, he worked at Georgia State University, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Dr. Black's research broadly focuses on the economics of science and innovation.
JERRY CONOVER — PANELIST ON INDIANA'S STATEWIDE ECONOMY

Director, Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC), Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, Bloomington. Dr. Conover, who has actively participated in research and economic development activities for many years, is past president of the national Association for Uni- versity Business and Economic Research. Under Dr. Con- over's leadership, the IBRC focuses on economic, workforce and demographic analysis of Indiana, its communities, and the rest of the nation.
   The center's Stats Indiana website for economic and demo- graphic data is widely used by organizations throughout Indiana, and the center provides technical assistance to fed- eral agencies to support economic development programs nationally. Moreover, the IBRC provides analysis and strategic planning assistance to state and regional economic development organizations, and the center leads the Infor- mation for Indiana initiative to provide better data to inform Hoosier policy decisions.

ROBERT
NEAL
— PANELIST ON THE FINANCIAL MARKETS and FORECAST
Assistant Professor of Finance, Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, Indianapolis. Mr. Neal hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago. Currently, his research centers on credit risk and risk man- agement. Prior to joining Indiana University, Mr. Neal was a financial economist with the Federal Reserve Bank. In addi- tion, he has worked extensively with the Securities and Exchange Commission on regulatory issues involving deriv- ative markets.
TIMOTHY F.
SLAPER
— PANELIST ON THE GLOBAL AND U.S. ECONOMIES

Director of Economic Analysis, Indiana Business Research Center, Kelly School of Business, Indiana University, Bloomington. Dr. Slaper leads a small re- search team engaged in regional economic analyses, eco- nomic impact studies, demographic estimates and projec- tions, trade and foreign investment analysis, and promoting economic development. Recent IBRC work has covered valuing the economic benefits and impacts of public libraries, county and city benchmark studies, state and county popu- lation projections, school enrollment projections, foreign direct investment and export studies, and measuring the economic impact of institutions like the Jacobs School of Music and the entire Indiana University system throughout the state.
   He is looking forward to conducting an analysis of the effects of confined and concentrated animal feeding oper- ations on local property values. Before joining the IBRC, Dr. Slaper served as senior economist of the Joint Economic Committee of Congress in Washington, D.C., researching topics such as the impact of high energy prices on economic output and the effectiveness of investment incentives in encouraging economic growth. Moreover, he wrote monthly updates of economic conditions. He cut his teeth as an economist at the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Dr. Slaper holds an M.B.A. from Miami University and his doctorate in economics from The American University.
