(NIWIB).  Go to Story.

The 2006 Youth Symposium on an Emerging Workforce
"Building Profitable Relationships with Disadvantaged Youth"

Crime, violence, poverty, and neighborhood disintegration often are cited as the top concerns of our Northern Indiana business and community leaders.  Far too often, media reports show the increasing distress of our youth evidenced by low graduation rates, lack of basic skills and incidences of youth violence.  As a result, there is a growing sense of urgency to address key issues affecting our youth—young individuals who are essential participants of the future workforce and key participants in the growth potential of our local economy.  Nationally, policymakers and practitioners alike have focused renewed efforts on tackling the serious issue of youth training and development.  The Youth Council of the Northern Indiana Workforce Investment Board, Inc. would like to invite business leaders, govern-
ment officials, school administrators, youth advocates, and representatives from faith-based and community organizations to a symposium on March 16.  For details of the event and online registration free of charge, go to the event article.
