If the GED Exam Is To Be your Route to Employment, WorkOne Can Assist You in Preparing To Pass the Test
While Being Out of School Should Not Hinder You, Earning a GED Nonetheless Requires Study and Practice
spacer

orkOne can assist eligible youth in measuring current educational levels and developing customized curriculum to prepare well for the General Educational Development (GED) exam.

The GED exam determines how well a person has mastered the skills and general knowledge that an average individual acquires during a four-year high school education.  You are tested on knowledge and skills gained from life experiences, radio, television, books, newspapers, consumer products, and advertising.

Even if you primarily use your hands on the job, you still need at least a GED.

Thus, someone out of school for a period of time should not be at a disadvantage; however, regular studying and the use of practice tests are needed to earn a GED.  Qualifying students can attend GED preparation classes for specific subject areas and work through materials at their own pace.  The GED exam consists of several components:

 FIRST-LANGUAGE ARTS
A first-language arts section, including writing test with questions on grammar, punctuation, sentence construction, plus an essay;

 SOCIAL STUDIES
A social studies test that includes questions on economics, geography, civics and government, as well as history of the United States and the world;

 LIFE SCIENCE AND OTHERS
A science test that covers life science, Earth and space science, as well as physical science;

 SECOND-LANGUAGE ARTS
A second-language arts section featuring a reading test that includes analysis and application of concepts found in stories, essays, plays, poetry, fiction, and film or television; and

 GEOMETRY, ALGEBRA AND
BASIC MATH

A two-part math test that measures basic knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; the test also involves questions about geometry, algebra, data analysis, number operations and problem-solving.
