Each WorkOne center also includes two other teams of knowledgeable staff mem- bers: the Skills/Training Team and the Employment Team. These teams focus on counseling individuals about training to boost skills, and secure employment such as providing prac- tical guidance in workshops, and constructively reviewing a person's resume and interview preparation.
In other areas, WorkOne staffers are organized in region-wide groups: the Business Services Team to coordinate WorkOne's services to employers, and the Workshop Team to deliver top- notch training activities across the five counties of Region 2.
Importantly, WorkOne does not charge fees of any kind to visitors, nor do we assess fees to local employers and businesses that we assist in employment matters. WorkOne is organized as an "American Job Center" (AJC) to provide robust services on a no-fee basis under laws including the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA); in this light, we receive a large portion of funding through public tax revenue distributed by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
A vital aspect of WorkOne Northern Indiana is participation in a newly created "Region 2 WIOA Partners Consortium," as required by WIOA, which took effect in July 2015 as the principal federal law authorizing workforce development across the United States. WorkOne Region 2 is one of nearly 3,000 American Job Centers across the country, all of which come under governance of WIOA.
The Region 2 WIOA Partners Consortium is a collaborative effort of Northern Indiana organizations including govern- ment offices, educational institutions, nonprofit groups, businesses and others to integrate various services with region-based goals and measures. See chart above.
